Delicious, light and pretty flavors for Spring!

Optimism fudge porter is back in time to match our sunny outlook! We use a dark and malty porter beer from Optimism Brewing Co and cook it down until it’s a sweet thick syrup to flavor our ice cream. We take that ice cream with its savory caramel and chocolate notes and fold in big swirls of our homemade hot fudge. We love collaborating with Optimism! Their brewery is just down the road from our Capitol Hill shop and we love the duo who founded it for making a space for not only families (kids and dogs included!) to hangout and have a beer, but also for being a space where community organizations can gather and meet. This irresistible flavor will be at all of our shops and Hello Robin, our favorite cookie shop!

The vibrant green color and plucky flavor of our vegan lime sherbet is the perfect match for the shimmering spring days we’re starting to have this month. We use organic limes in three delicious ways to create the perfect citrusy flavor balanced by the richness of our coconut milk ice cream base. First we zest our limes to capture its fragrant oil, then we squeeze the limes for their tart juice. To really amp up the lime flavor, we also take whole limes and cook them down with sugar to create an intensely flavored lime marmalade. It’s zippy! It’s creamy! It’s the best dang vegan sherbet you’ve ever had! We’ll be serving scoops of this tasty treat at all of our shops, including the Madrona walk-up window!

Every summer we purchase many pounds of blackberries from fourth generation Hayton Farms in the Skagit Valley. We carefully process and freeze these summer gems for use in our ice creams throughout winter and early spring. Our blackberry jam ice cream is a taste of summer in a scoop! We cook these beautiful blackberries into a dark amethyst colored jam that’s perked up with fresh lemon juice, and folded into our rich blackberry ice cream. This flavor is fruity and floral and pairs perfectly with our homemade lemon curd on top. We’ll be scooping this flavor in all of our shops, as well as the Madrona walk-up window!

Our shops have many dedicated dairy-free fans. One request we often get is that our vegan and plant-based friends want the simple delicious things in life and from us. We can’t argue with that request! This month we think our vegan brownies & cream fits the bill. Fudgy, dense, vegan gluten-free brownies are baked, cut, and tossed into a sweet coconut base with a hint of salt. This flavor is absolutely perfect on its own, but you can make it extra tasty by adding a drizzle of our vegan chocolate hardshell and a sprinkle of candied hazelnuts for an over-the-top treat. You can also head to Hello Robin and have this scrumptious flavor sandwiched between two of their delicious cookies for a decadent ice cream sandwich!
