Born and raised in Seattle, Joy Shigaki brings her leadership experience from San Francisco’s Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and New York’s Mayor’s office to help reimagine and reshape Seattle’s connection to the waterfront.

As the President & CEO of Friends of Waterfront Park she has led the organization through several major milestones, including the completion of the $170M Campaign for Waterfront Park and the Park’s Grand Opening Celebration in 2025. Named one of Seattle’s most influential business leaders by Seattle Magazine as well as one of the Puget Sound’s 100 most influential leaders by the Puget Sound Business Journal. 

Throughout her life and career, Joy has been deeply grounded in and committed to racial and social justice and has worked to build and strengthen more equitable and inclusive organizations and systems — which is beautifully represented today in our city’s crown jewel — the Waterfront Park!
