Blackberries are coveted little juicy amethyst jewels here in the Pacific Northwest, and no summer is complete without their appearance in our scoop shop. We get gorgeous blackberries from two of our favorite farms, Viva Farms and Hayton Farms, and the floral berries with their sweet-tartness make for an exceptional blackberry sorbet. We puree these organic blackberries, sweeten them with organic sugar, add a splash of tangy lime juice, and turn it into a striking deep dark purple sorbet that’s silky smooth, flavor-packed, and refreshing on a warm summer’s day. This sorbet is truly an irresistible bite of summer and you can find it at all of our shops including our little Madrona walk-up window, and at Seattle’s favorite cookie shops, Hello Robin on 19th and in the University Village!

Another summer fruit we can’t get enough of are the incredible Washington watermelons coming into peak ripeness! This year our culinary team is turning these rotund fruity beauties into a creamy watermelon ice cream. Our rich ice cream base mingles with the melon’s sweetness and gives this ice cream a refined and sophisticated melon flavor, very different from the mouth puckering watermelon flavored treats you might be used to. As a nod to the watermelon’s iconic look, we added poppyseeds which also give it a little pop of texture! This delightfully summery scoop will be available at all Molly Moon’s shops including the Madrona walk-up window.

While many of us have held off on travels abroad, we aren’t letting our wanderlust get the best of us at Molly Moon’s. This summer, we are mentally whisking ourselves away to the cobblestone streets of Italy, basking in the Tuscan sun, and popping into a little gelateria for a mid-afternoon cool treat. One of our favorite flavors is stracciatella! We take our ultra buttery ice cream base and emulate the soft cravable texture of gelato, then while the ice cream is freshly churned and soft, we drizzle in our homemade chocolate hardshell and fold that into the ice cream to create shards and flecks of chocolate- reminiscent of chocolate chip ice cream, but elevated to its highest level! This flavor is the equivalent to the simple black dress and makes the perfect base to any of our toppings- candied hazelnuts! Crumbled thin mints! Or our seasonal topping, cherry pie filling! This delicious ice cream can also be found at both Hello Robin locations.

For the last four weeks we’ve been scooping mocha chip and this flavor has some serious fans! It only made sense to bring a vegan mocha chip into our shops. This plant-based ice cream uses coconut milk as its delicious base, and then we stir in dutch process cocoa powder and freshly brewed coffee from Olympia Coffee Roasters and then add chunks of 70% Theo organic chocolate. Each element - coconut, coffee, and chocolate - bring out the best in one another! The nutty and fruity notes all sing together to create a beautiful symphony with every bite!
