Betti's Black Sesame Red Bean!
March 17, 2025
“Black sesame and red adzuki bean paste are about family and tradition. They represent heritage, and I think it’s incredibly important for us to celebrate and share our heritage with others.”
-Betti Fujikado
Women’s History Month honoree Betti Fujikado's identity as a Japanese American has been a significant aspect of her life’s journey and work. Betti has spent her career passionately building communities in the Seattle area, first as the co-founder and former CEO of the ad agency Copacino + Fujikado, then further as a co-founder of Success Cohorts and Our Stories Are Your Stories, a project created for AANHPI Heritage Month.
In celebration of Betti, we were inspired to feature two ingredients from her family that symbolize celebration—black sesame and red adzuki bean paste. The savory, nutty richness of the black sesame, balanced by the smooth, mildly sweet red adzuki bean paste, creates a perfect representation of Betti—traditional, modern, and timeless.
Grab a scoop of this amazing flavor, or try it as our seasonal sundae topped with deep dark hot fudge, kinako muddy buddies, whipped cream, and a Chukar cherry on top!
