There’s no fruit from our region that’s more iconic than the Washington State apple. This time of year new crop apples, freshly plucked from the orchards are piled high in grocery stores and farmer’s market stalls. Every autumn we team up with one of our favorite farms, Collins Family Orchards, to make our much beloved Dutch Apple Pie ice cream. After peeling, coring, and slicing organic Honeycrisp apples, we turn them into a delicious pie filling made with local butter, and spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom. We blend some of the filling to add to our ice cream base, and then swirl in big dollops of the compote for a doubly delicious spiced apple flavor! And it wouldn’t be Dutch Apple Pie without chunks of delectable crisp crumble. We make ours with oats, butter, flour, brown sugar, cardamom, and cinnamon. Each bite is the perfect taste of fall! Grab a scoop or pint of this amazing flavor at all of our shops, including the Madrona walk-up window, as well as both Hello Robin locations.
Chewy, buttery, and oh-so-delicious- our decadent blondies take center stage in our brown sugar blondie ice cream this month. We bake trays of these magnificent blondies studded with white chocolate, and break them into bits and bites that are folded into ice cream flavored with an organic brown sugar rich with molasses. Though this ice cream may seem simple, its flavor is complex and deep. Order this ice cream at our shops in a waffle cone with vanilla bean caramel drizzled inside, and you absolutely won't be disappointed. You can also get this ice cream sandwiched between two of your favorite cookies at both Hello Robin locations.
New to our seasonal offerings is our fudge berry swirl ice cream! Every summer we purchase fruits of all kinds while they are in their prime. We carefully clean and freeze the fruits so that we can use their bright and welcome flavors in the colder (and let’s be honest, drearier) months when local fresh fruit isn’t available. For this ice cream, we’ve turned northwest raspberries, blackberries, cherries, and cranberries into a berry-licious amethyst-colored jam. The jam, along with our deep dark chocolate fudge, is folded into a chocolate ice cream with just a pinch of salt. The balance of the tart fruit and the chocolate is a perfect pairing on its own, but this ice cream is even more delicious with a warm brownie or an extra drizzle of hot fudge!
Vegan pumpkin chai rounds out our November seasonal flavors. Warm chai spices and freshly roasted pumpkins, are turned into a silky, ultra creamy, vegan ice cream. Key ingredients in chai tea- cardamom, ginger, and star anise- are the anchor to this flavor allowing the sweet earthy notes of Stahlbush Farms’ pumpkins to shine through. The ice cream is finished with a dash of black pepper which highlights the spiciness of the ginger. For the full dairy-free experience, top this with our vegan chocolate hardshell and a sprinkling of candied hazelnuts.
