Sugimoto Tea is a third-generation green tea company that was founded in 1946, growing tea at the foothills of Mt. Fuji. While the tea is still grown in Japan, their operations are right here in Redmond, WA! We use Sugimoto’s matcha powder in all of our matcha-flavored ice creams and toppings, not only because it’s incredibly delicious and visually stunning with its deep green hue, but also because it is grown using the traditional Japanese Chagusaba Method. This method promotes sustainability by respecting the land on which the tea is cultivated, balancing the growth of the tea with the natural grassland habitat.

While not widely known in the United States, Chagusaba is recognized by the United Nations as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System due to its focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship.
