Women's History Month
March 5, 2025
Since 2019, we’ve celebrated Women's History Month by recognizing women who have dedicated their work and lives to making our communities safer, more equitable, and welcoming to all. Each year, we select four phenomenal women, and this year is no different! We're proud to present our 2025 Honorees:
Besa Gordon, Media Personality and Host
Betti Fujikado, Community Builder
Jaelynn Scott, Executive Director
Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, Executive Director/CEO & Co-Founder
BESA GORDON
For the first time, molly moon’s has created a vegan version of our very popular Cookies & Cream ice cream! This flavor was developed in collaboration with our Women’s History Month honoree, Besa Gordon! Besa is the vibrant, energetic host of Back2Besa on FOX 13 (syndicated nationwide on FOX Soul), where she highlights local restaurants, changemakers, and community foundations, all while uplifting the Black community in the Pacific Northwest. When we asked Besa about her dream ice cream, she shared a list of her favorite sweet treats and expressed how important it was for her to be represented with a vegan flavor. After some collaborative discussions, we landed on Vegan Cookies & Cream! This is a plant-based twist on our classic favorite! Rich organic coconut milk and organic sugar are churned until silky smooth, and then we fold in a vegan chocolate cookie crumble made with plenty of organic cocoa powder and a touch of vanilla extract.
BETTI FUJIKADO
Betti Fujikado has been an influential powerhouse in business and mentorship in Seattle for decades. Betti is the co-founder and former CEO of the advertising agency Copacino + Fujikado, co-founder of the coaching platform Success Cohorts, and co-founder of Our Stories Are Your Stories, created for the AANHPI community. It was important to Betti that her Japanese American heritage be embraced as we created an ice cream flavor in her honor. And thus, Black Sesame Red Bean ice cream was born. Nutty black sesame paste is swirled into local cream, milk, and sugar to create this ice cream. Large swirls of smooth adzuki bean paste, traditional in Japanese confections, are blended into the black sesame ice cream. This flavor strikes the perfect balance between the earthiness of black sesame and adzuki, while being sweet but not too sweet!
JAELYNN SCOTT
Jaelynn Scott is a visionary leader committed to Black trans liberation and intersectional justice. As the Executive Director of the Lavender Rights Project, she leads the organization’s work in Black trans advocacy in Seattle, WA, and we have long been inspired by her efforts. We are honored to have the opportunity to highlight Jaelynn’s important contributions this month, while also creating a flavor that evokes nostalgia from her childhood in the South. Peach Cobbler ice cream was her dream flavor, and we made it a reality! We cook down big pots of peaches with organic sugar, lemon juice, and a touch of peach schnapps, then blend it with lots of cream, milk, and sugar. Once the ice cream reaches a light, fluffy texture, we fold in freshly baked biscuits made with plenty of butter and heavy whipping cream.
KRISTIN ROWE-FINKBEINER
Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner is the Executive Director of MomsRising, a nonprofit advocacy group with over a million members nationwide working to improve economic security, stop discrimination, and build a nation where everyone can thrive. Kristin is a vivacious, passionate woman, so when we collaborated to create a flavor just for her, it was no surprise that she loves the combination of decadent chocolate and spicy chilies! Ghost Chili Chocolate ice cream was made in her honor. We craft a rich ice cream with 65% dark K’ul chocolate, then spike it with the perfect amount of dried ghost chilies to bring just the right level of heat to this cold, sweet treat!
