Salty toffee has a legion of obsessive fans that crave the chocolate studded toffee with its delicate crunch and sweetness, balanced against its bitter, almost savory richness. The toffee is made the traditional old-school way - with a generous portion of butter, cream, and sugar. While the toffee is still warm, we finish it with a showering of Theo dark chocolate. Once the toffee hardens, we break it up into bite size pieces and fold it into a luxuriously buttery, brown sugar toffee ice cream. Every year we purchase hundreds of pounds of the most gorgeous blackberries from Hayton Farms, and some of those berries are saved, frozen, and waiting for December to be used in our iconic blackberry crème fraîche ice cream. This annual ice cream flavor is a favorite, particularly during this time of year when a taste of late summer berries brings an extra dose of sunshine into our cups and cones. The blackberries, grown on Fir Island in the Skagit Valley, are cooked down into a thick jam, until it’s the color of deep amethyst. Our ice cream makers swirl that jam into a rich and slightly tangy homemade crème fraîche ice cream. This elegant flavor will be available at all of our shops, including the Madrona walk-up window.
While the weather outside might be a tad frightful, we’ve got a warm spiced ice cream that is oh-so-delightful! Our gingerbread cream cookie seasonal has a base of sweet, inky blackstrap molasses ice cream. We fold in little chunks of spicy candied ginger, and homemade gingerbread sandwich cookies filled with a ginger buttercream. This bold flavor makes the most perfect sundae with a big dollop of our homemade whipped cream!
For our vegan flavor this month, we turn to Brooklyn-based, woman-owned Golde and use their Original Golde Tonic for an incredible vegan golden milk ice cream. The ice cream has a soothing warmth from the cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and black pepper. The incredible hue comes from turmeric, giving this vegan treat its signature Golde-n appearance and an earthy note. This flavor makes a tasty vegan sundae combined with our vegan hardshell chocolate, and vegan coconut whip! Our shops, along with Hello Robin, will be serving this tasty flavor all month long!
