Molly
MOLLY 101
Molly worked as an ice cream scooper in college at The Big Dipper in Missoula, Montana.
The company logo was modeled after Molly’s dog, Parker Posey, a French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix.
Yes, Moon is her real middle name (and her daughter’s!)
Before getting into the ice cream business, Molly was the Executive Director of a political non-profit called Music for America.
Molly’s favorite flavor is Cookie Dough!
Ice cream makes people happy. It’s the simple truth that led Molly Moon Neitzel to open up her first scoop shop in 2008. Once a feisty kid with a big sweet tooth and even bigger plans to change the world, Molly Moon’s Ice Cream is the product of Molly’s desire to create a multigenerational community gathering place where her values are churned in with smart business practices to produce life changing jobs and enough profit to be a good example for other businesses who want to do the right thing.
A granddaughter of small business owners and Idaho Democrats, Molly has worked to ensure that Molly Moon’s embodies her original family values. She has advocated for fair business practices and worker rights on the local, state, and national levels, helping to win minimum-wage increases, paid safe and sick time, secure scheduling, and paid family and medical leave for workers in her region. She is a leader on living wages and benefits, and advocacy for working parents, and led our company to go 100% pay-transparent in 2018.
Molly gives final approval on every ice cream and topping recipe we create (sometimes with her two daughters by her side), she loves the creative process of designing each shop to fit the neighborhood, walking into a shop that’s playing a great playlist, and still getting to roll a warm waffle cone now and then!
